How deep should the rack be?

Measure your deepest unit from the back of its rack ears to its rearmost connector, then add about 2" for cables. Depths are shell depths, measured without the lids.

Shock racks

The rack floats in foam.

A shock rack is two cases in one: the rails sit in an inner shell, and the inner shell sits in foam inside a full ATA outer case. A knock on the outside reaches your gear softened. Eight sizes, from $749.99.

  • 3/8" plywood in the inner and the outer shell
  • Foam between the shells on all four sides
  • Recessed butterfly catches and four recessed handles
  • 18" or 24" deep, 4U to 20U, 1/2" ply upgrade

Questions before you order

How many rack spaces do I need?

Add up the rack units of your gear: each unit is 1.75" of rail, and the size is printed on the gear or its manual (1U, 2U and so on). Then add a space or two for a power conditioner, a drawer or room to grow.

How deep should the case be?

Measure your deepest unit from the back of its rack ears to its rearmost connector, then add about 2" for cables. Our depths are shell depths, measured without the lids, so a 16" case takes gear up to about 14" deep.

Economy, Signature or shock rack?

Economy (1/4" ply) suits local gigs and storage. Signature (3/8" ATA ply, recessed hardware above 2U) is built for flying and shipping. A shock rack floats the rack in foam inside a second case, for gear that cannot take a hit.

How fast does a rack case ship?

Every case on this page ships in 15 business days, about three weeks. If you need it sooner, call 631-557-0000 before you order and ask about rush service.

Do the rails and screws come with it?

Yes, every rack comes with rails and the hardware to mount your gear. Economy racks have front rails and mounting bolts. Signature racks have rear rails and mounting bolts, and some 10U and larger sizes have threaded front and rear rails. Each product page lists its rails.

Can you build a size that is not listed?

Yes, any size and any mix of rack spaces, drawers and compartments. Build it in 3D or ask for a quote and we answer in one business day. No minimum order.

How does shipping work?

Free shipping covers a standard commercial address in the lower 48 states. Residential delivery, Alaska, Hawaii and international orders are quoted. Large racks on casters ship by freight.
